We are so excited to add to the Goldenrod Pastries team. We’re looking for two new people: a front-of-house specialist and a pastry chef. See the job descriptions below for more information.

Pastry Tech/Angel:

As the Pastry Tech/Angel at Goldenrod Pastries, you will be the first inviting face our customers interact with at the bakery. You are a self-motivated, hard working person who loves food! You thrive on multi-tasking, love taking ownership and responsibility for your work, and crave a fast-paced environment. You can contribute creatively to our overall brand and mission of beautiful sweets and working with alternative diets. You are available to work up to 30 hours/week, including weekends.

Responsibilities include

  • Opening and closing procedures, which include tidying up, organizing drinks and pastries, and making the bakery look adorable.
  • Consulting with customers on special orders
  • Understanding alternative diets so you can best serve our customers
  • Ensure food quality and safety
  • Keeping inventory of commonly used, non-food items (e.g. boxes and other disposable items), as well as retail items
  • Cleaning, washing dishes, disposing of trash, mopping
  • Preparing coffee and tea for customers

Pastry Chef:

 This is the pastry job you’ve been dreaming about. You will work closely with the owner and other pastry chef to create charming, interesting, creative sweet items for traditional and alternative diets. You have had at least one year of experience in a professional pastry environment and have a handle on many traditional techniques. You are creative and motivated to try new things.  You have an eye for color, texture, interesting design, and of course flavor! You multi-task like the pastry king/queen that you are and love a fast-paced environment. You are available to work 30-40 hours/week, including weekends. You are obsessed with sugar and spice, and everything nice.

Responsibilities, and desired skills, include:

  • Skilled in, but not limited to, the following: traditional bread-baking, macarons, pâte à choux, cake and cookie decorating, wedding cake assembly
  • Inventory raw ingredients
  • Organize daily and weekly special orders
  • Inventory stock of prepared bakery items
  • Create new menu items and special holiday treats
  • Fill in as needed for front of house specialist throughout your shifts
  • Ensure food quality and safety
  • Cleaning, washing dishes, mopping, disposing of trash, maintaining a generally clean and pristine kitchen environment
